Ten 2022 Audi models received top honors by one of the vehicles industry’s most prestigious safety organizations.
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded its highest possible rating of “Top Safety Pick+” to the Audi 2022 A6, 2022 A6 Allroad, 2022 A7, the 2022 Q5, 2022 Q5 Sportback, 2022 e-tron and 2022 e-tron sportback.
Also, IIHS “Top Safety Pick” was awarded to the 2022 Audi A4, 2022 A5 Sportback and 2022 Audi Q8.
All of the 2022 Audi award winners earned the top rating of “Good” in six IIHS crashworthiness categories. Tests included driver-side, small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, original side, roof strength and head restraint tests.
Front crash prevention systems available with each of the vehicles earned advanced or superior ratings in the vehicle-to-vehicle as well as vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. They also offered at least one headlight system that earned the top ratings of “Good” or “Acceptable.”
Seven Audi models were given “Top Safety Pick+” awards in the large luxury cars, midsize luxury SUVs and large SUVs categories. The other 3 vehicles made the “Top Safety Pick” list in the midsize luxury car and large SUVs categories with “Good” or “Acceptable” headlights.
Each of the ten 2022 Audi vehicles are equipped with the Audi Pre Sense safety technology package, which delivers faster-than-human safety interventions and automated preventive measures.
IIHS is a not-for-profit organization funded by auto insurance companies and dedicated to reducing injuries, fatalities and property destructions from vehicle collisions. It purchases the vehicles from dealers and puts the vehicles through a series of crash, headlights and automatic braking system tests.
The Audi 2022 lineup offers a full suite of standard and available driver assistance features, engineered to help drivers confidently navigate road and traffic.
Among the Audi driver assistance technologies:
- Adaptive Night Vision Assistant uses long range infrared camera that picks off thermal energy from objects.
- Adaptive Cruise Control such as stop and go, accelerate and brake assistance.
- Adaptive Cruise Assist uses radar, camera and ultrasonic sensors aids for highway driving.
- Active Lane Assist to keep vehicles from veering into adjacent lanes.
- Audi Side Assist, with two rear-mounted radar sensors that scans and tracks vehicles approaching from the rear.
