Audi has introduced “Function on Demand,” a convenient service which allows car owners to remotely update their vehicle’s tech features integrated with the navigation system.
Function on Demand is available for the 2021 Audi Q5, Q5 Sportback, A4, A5 Premium, Premium Plus models as well as 2021 e-tron and e-tron Sportback Premium models.
The initial offering of MMI Navigation Plus, bundled with Audi connect PLUS with Full-Speed Wi-Fi, unlocked Audi’s vibrant and immersive satellite navigation for customers who were looking for short-term road trip functionality.
Function on Demand opens up the full Audi navigation experience, complete with a real-life satellite view, natural speech recognition controls that learn language, handwriting recognition on the newly enlarged 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen. It also opens up all other services included in the CARE, PRIME and PLUS packages for these models.
The features complement vehicles not equipped with navigation from the factory and add a new layer to the ownership experience on both the new and preowned market.
Function on Demand with MMI Navigation Plus is especially useful for a driver who may need a one-month navigation subscription on a road trip. It allows passengers and rear-seat occupants with up to eight compatible devices such as smartphones or tablets to watch videos using a vehicle’s built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection. An annual subscription also is available.
Drivers can select their monthly or annual subscription plans via myAudi Marketplace in the myAudi app. The advanced functionality helps prevent travelers from getting lost in unfamiliar locations or remote areas. The system also helps drivers find the closest restaurants, malls, rest areas and other locations usually beneath the radar.
